With respect to traditional M-mode, AM permits a more detailed, flexible analysis of cardiac chambers.
AM-Mode has been improved by the "fully digital” offering of high temporal resolution. Thus, AM analysis can be performed in any direction, as a uni-dimensional echocardiogram. AM-Mode is also commonly used for the accurate measurements of vessel wall thickness, intima media thickness, ventricular walls and volumes of the cardiac chambers.
