AMSTERDAM or ONSITE: Vevo 3100 Abdominal Imaging Course

This course available on site at your lab or at our Amsterdam lab.

Included in the training (Amsterdam Lab):

General system introduction

  • General introduction to the Vevo 3100 system
    • setup, basic function, maintenance, cleaning procedures


After the course the participants will be able to:

  • Handle the Vevo equipment, and follow maintenance and cleaning procedures
  • Perform abdominal ultrasound scans, identifying major organs and blood vessels
  • 2D and 3D ultrasound imaging including data analysis
  • Assess organ vascularity in 2D and 3D
  • Measure blood flow velocities in major abdominal vessels
  • Data export (fully automated background transfer), data management, image annotations and export for presentations and publications

 

DAY 1

9:00am - 10:00am Seminar: Introduction to Mouse Abdominal and Vascular Imaging using the Vevo 3100 System
Presenting imaging views and measurements in various models. General introduction on the Vevo system’s capabilities, tips and tricks, and analysis tools.
Dedicated focus on workflow for early detection of abdominal tumors, volumetric quantification, tumor/organ functional and molecular characterization, and possibilities for photoacoustic imaging.

Animal handling and preparation

Introduction to abdominal imaging 
Focus on identification of abdominal organs and blood vessels
•    Kidneys and adrenal glands
•    Liver, spleen, pancreas
•    Stomach, and intestine
•    Reproductive organs (if requested)
•    Abdominal aorta, inferior vena cava, portal vein, hepatic artery, renal arteries and veins, splenic artery and vein

Practicing of abdominal imaging reproducing the previously introduced techniques

  • Image acquisition
  • Annotations
  • Saving images and videos
12:30pm –13:30pm LUNCH

Advanced abdominal imaging 
Introducing 3D capabilities including assessment of vasculature
•    Kidneys and adrenal glands in 2D and 3D 
•    Gated image acquisition 
Introducing working with presets – establishing standardized imaging protocols.
Data export (including automated data transfer)

VevoLAB offline analysis software.
Importing previously acquired data into the offline analysis software.
Data handling, annotations, measurements and 3D analysis protocols.

•    Identification and labelling of abdominal vessels.
Focus on workflow, reproducibility and acquisition speed. Tips and tricks for fine-tuning.

Introducing Color and Power Doppler Mode for assessing blood flow velocities.
Identifying arterial and venous blood flow patterns.

Reproducing acquired techniques.
Discussions on to be expected structural and functional changes during tumor growth.
Applications for abdominal, and tumor research.
