Like its predecessor, the Vevo 770 provides the small animal researcher with the ability to visualize and quantify small animal anatomical targets, hemodynamics and therapeutic interventions with resolution down to 30 microns. Because it is non-invasive, longitudinal monitoring and quantification of phenotypes and therapeutic regimes can be monitored in the same animal over time. New functionality now available on the Vevo 770 includes increased temporal resolution, improved workflow and ergonomics, and newly available features — including the release of Power Doppler to visualize and quantify relative microvasculature in vivo for anti-angiogenic studies.

New Functionality Allows New Possibilities
The Vevo 770 platform is based on similar technology inherent in the currently available Vevo 660 but introduces a series of significant improvements that will benefit the current and future research efforts. Key functional advantages achievable with the Vevo 770 include:

    New Functions Available
  • >  New features are now available for use on the Vevo 770 including Power Doppler, a mode that allows for the visualization and quantification of relative microvascularity in vivo for anti-angiogenic studies. In addition, Advanced Cardiovascular Functionality will be available shortly that will provide Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI), Integrated Blood Pressure Measurement, Anatomical M-Mode, Automated Left Ventricular Quantification, and Advanced Measurements and Annotation Functionality.
    Improved Penetration:
  • >  The Vevo 770 allows visualization at comparable frequencies to the Vevo 660 but will display improved penetration (~ 25%). This added feature allows detection of signals reflected from deeper anatomical targets.
    Increased Temporal Resolution:
  • >  On the Vevo 770 platform, RMV 700-Series scanheads are able to achieve frame rates of 100+ frames per second (FPS). This is of special benefit to the cardiovascular researcher, especially those working with mouse models, who will be able to achieve the resolution of the Vevo with a higher number of images per cardiac cycle in real-time. The Cardiovascular Scanhead (Model RMV 707B) can achieve 140 frames per second and sectored down (1 mm), can achieve rates of 240 fps. Using EKV™, our line-based reconstruction application, rates of 1,000 fps can be achieved.
    Increased Velocities:
  • >  The PW Doppler application on the Vevo 770 is able to achieve PRF (pulse wave frequency) quantification of up to 120 KHz facilitating detailed assessment and quantification of cardiac hemodynamics in small animal models.
    Improved Image Quality:
  • >  The Vevo 660 maintains a high level of line (or image information) density at high resolutions. On the Vevo 770, an even higher level of line density is maintained over all fields of view, even at the higher frame rates, thereby providing the researcher with better image quality.
    Improved Serviceability:
  • >  The Vevo 770 allows a higher level of serviceability to the instrument due to the easily accessed panels, filters, cabling and electronics.
    Expandability for Future Functionality:
  • >  The Vevo 770 has the internal space capacity to have significant functionality added to it at a later date and has been designed for upgradeability.
    Additional Outputs Available:
  • >  As a standard feature, the Vevo 770 has a USB 2.0 output available for rapid export of files, images and measurements. “RF Output” will also be available as a standard feature including the ability to provide frame-triggered RF data.
    Improved Ergonomics:
  • >  The Vevo 770 has been designed to improve the ergonomics of moving and operating the instrument in a high-throughput environment. Features include:
    • >  a built-in keyboard and trackball with re-configured hot keys,
    • >  compact instrument design for easy, comfortable use and simplified movement between locations or labs,
    • >  dual RMV inputs and multiple RMV scanhead holders,
    • >  large front and back handles for easy movement of the Vevo, and
    • >  improved placement of power switches and RMV input connectors for easier use.
    Branded Instrumentation:
  • >  The Vevo 770 is branded to support the overall look and feel of the VisualSonics corporate identity.
