Digital Electronics Developer






Reporting to a Project Team Leader, the Digital Electronics Developer will be responsible for the design and development of electronics modules and subsystems, including specification, prototyping, performance test and verification and product release. Capable of applying innovative problem solving skills to reach the market quickly, the Digital Electronics Developer is a key member of a fast growing research and development team.

  • >  Develop FPGA devices to satisfy the digital signal processing and control requirements of the VisualSonics ultrasound machine.
  • >  Develop test plans and testbenches for design verification
  • >  Develop standard interfaces for software.
  • >  Proficient in schematic capture and board layout.
  • >  Ensure the designs are reliable and comply with requirements of the overall system.
  • >  Participate in prototyping, and feasibility assessment of utilizing new technologies for the product development team.
  • >  Assist in testing and evaluating prototypes.
  • >  Assist management in hiring process of new team members by providing technical evaluation/assessment of applicant’s skills as required.
  • >  Working effectively in collaboration with other members of the department, or with managers and staff across the organization.

The position reports directly to the designated project team leader on a specific project.

Internally, the Digital Electronics Developer will work closely with the Engineering group, Applications Specialists, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance departments in order to achieve the objectives. They must promote positive and effective working relationships and work cooperatively to provide quality service.
Externally, the Digital Electronics Developer will work with outside collaborators, consultants, vendors, users and customers as required.


    Education:

  • >  A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.

    Knowledge/Experience:
  • >  At least 2 years experience in the implementation of FPGA devices in VHDL.
  • >  Experience with FPGA development tools (Xilinx or Altera).
  • >  Experience troubleshooting and debugging FPGA designs.
  • >  Knowledge of digital signal processing and system analysis principles.
  • >  Knowledge of high speed digital design techniques.
  • >  Knowledge of microprocessor architecture and interfaces.
  • >  Experience working with ISO 9001 quality standard.
  • >  Experience in ultrasound or other medical imaging systems and knowledge of imaging applications is an asset.

    Skills
  • >  Mixed signal design an asset.
  • >  Embedded system development is an asset.
  • >  Ability to use MS Office for communication and documentation purposes.
  • >  Design skills in other areas of electronics would be a definite asset.
  • >  Good communications skills and ability to work in a team environment is essential.
